Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of Columbia Residents Directory. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The Service

Columbia Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public record indexes, rolls, and directory collections concerning Columbia, Tennessee. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with a government office, court, library, or custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

Use the service lawfully. You must not use the service or material reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm another person
  • Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions about credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or another covered purpose
  • Scrape, copy, or republish content at scale
  • Disrupt the service, its operations, or its security

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing here or returned by a linked tool is a consumer report, and it may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated purpose.

4. Outside Resources

Government portals, archives, libraries, sponsored tools, and other third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control their content, price, uptime, or data practices.

5. No Warranty

The service is offered “as is” and “as available,” without warranties. We do not guarantee that content is complete, current, accurate, or continuously available, or that an external portal will operate or return correct results.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from the service or a linked resource, including decisions based on a record.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the service operators harmless from claims, demands, and reasonable attorneys’ fees that result from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Site Content

The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to a page or quote a brief attributed excerpt, but may not republish whole pages or systematically copy the content.

9. Term Updates

We may revise these terms by publishing an updated version here. Using the service after a revision means you accept the revised terms.

10. Restricting Access

We may suspend or limit access, without notice, for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service.

11. Tennessee Law

These terms are governed by Tennessee law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Public-record access in Tennessee is governed by the Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. §§ 10-7-501 et seq., including § 10-7-503. The statute does not require a custodian to create a new record or compile a broad list where no existing record exists. The Tennessee Information Protection Act, T.C.A. Title 47, Chapter 18, Part 33, applies to qualifying consumers and covered controllers and does not replace public-record obligations imposed on a custodian.

12. Severability

If one provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
